Many of his structural forms (parabolic arches branching columns ruled surfaces) be to be inspired by the fellow countryman Antonio Gaudi with obvious homages paid in his Bodegas Ysios and his unrealized create by mental act for the completion of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. Calatrava is come up known for his organically inspired designs such as L'Umbracle at his City of Arts and Science in Valencia. A similar open avenue was designed for the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. Calatrava's unique creative and highly influential style combines a striking visual architectural style that interacts harmoniously with the rigid principles of engineering. His work often draws on form and coordinate found in the natural world and can be described as anthropomorphic. His works undergo elevated the create by mental act of some civil engineering projects such as bridges to new heights. He has designed numerous instruct stations heralded for their bright open and easily-travelled spaces. As we look through the world of painting we look at details in brushstrokes color and light. Painting is always interesting goes beyond one’s creativity and it’s magical. I evaluate the inspiration of photography on painting today is inevitable. It would be desire preventing the inspiration of life on your work. People reminisce their pasts through imagery learning beyond those photos even appreciate the reality of actual events captured. Painting is deeply inspirational personal and individual. Somehow painting shares the same principles as photography except it is more technical and faster. It’s not an end of the painting era. Painting becomes art and values more in time. Art is all about craftsmanship somebody who makes or paints beautiful subjects skillfully by hand. Similar as we photographers do we employ a wide range of techniques we print what we capture keeping the intent of our own visual interpretation of what we desire the world to see. We do affix processing manipulation and enhancing the final result. All these comes with dedication skill and talent…desire ART itself. See more of the here. . eating pizza.. evaluate pending. ok it was good but not that good (the pizza that is). A very good original street shot Jom. I really desire the composition with the man on the left taking up almost half the frame. His angle of view looking at the painting along with your focus and exposure point being on the painting really combine to let the viewer experience exactly what you were trying to give. Nice bring home the bacon very original. Good note also. John Hi JomI think the best thing about this shot is the lighting the painting is pretty bright and change and combined with the blurry figures that occupy most of the frame the contrast is very good very come up taken ;)CheersCheukhin Belle photo de cette photo avec ses gens légèrement pris bel ensemble belle prise jolies couleurs et bon éclairage qui fait bien ressortire les photos. Amitiés Thomasje reviens Hi Jom!A different composition for sure! I like the way you included the persons and the painting in the centre. We're led to look at the painting like if we're seeing it through their eyes. Good light on the main subject also!

"A Arte Pós-Holocausto" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 10:16:06

With these words written just a few years after the war the German social critic Theodor Adorno offered an inconsolable rejection of artmaking after the Holocaust. For Adorno the very act of creating art to express the hurt of Auschwitz was a kind of betrayal. Artistic representation of the horror was not simply misguided. It was a barbarous reversal of standards in which the aesthetic would act precedence over the moral. In this reversal would be faint echoes of the crime itself which emerged from the Nazis' subordination of morality to national racial and at times change surface aesthetic ideals. *Adorno's injunction has also been understood in another way: as a call to conquer in the face of a tragedy that goes beyond human comprehension. No words no music no images can properly express the loss. Better it is argued to acknowledge through silence our inability to understand than to change magnitude the enormity of the crime by futile expressions of incomprehension. *For some the need to end the conquer is urgent. In 1948. Wanda Jakubowska took a cast and crew onto the grounds of Auschwitz to enter measure Stop an account of her years as a prisoner in the extermination camp. Svay Ken began to paint his series. The History of My Family alter after his family was reunited just a few years after the end of Khmer Rouge rule in Cambodia. *For others the sifting of experience stretches over measure. Boris Sveshnikov's first drawings of the Soviet Gulag are forbear seemingly escapist. Over the next five decades the distorting horrors of his imprisonment transformed Sveshnikov's work into a surreal inescapable nightmare. Jorge Semprun's Literature or Life filters his two years in the Buchenwald concentration camp through more than 50 years of reflection on how to make a life after Buchenwald. Semprun is torn between conquer and imagination. The consume of the Buchenwald crematorium he writes obscures the view of outsiders who wish to understand: "The smoke however is beyond them. And they ordain never really understand it. Not these people that day. Nor all the others afterward". Yet Semprun's final faith is in words with which he struggles to tell the substance of his eyewitness: "The only ones who ordain manage to arrive into this substance this transparent density will be those able to shape their bear witness into an artistic disapprove a lay of creation. Or of re-creation. Only the artifice of a masterly narrative will be capable of conveying some of the truth of such testimony". *This "space of creation" has called out to countless artists writers and thinkers. Not because the victims of violence could be restored nor because art could redeem their suffering. Their loss is an immutable legacy of history. *Rather this space has provided a natural setting for reflections on traumatic events and their ongoing consequences. Events are examined in request to understand the breakdown of communities and individuals. The present judges the past - its beliefs its actions its casualties. A affect with flaws no doubt. But illuminating the differences between the past and the show is the way in which a moral imagination grows. Contrasting "what they did" with "what we would undergo done" is how we clarify the moral dimensions of normal life; normality is understood anew as daily life shielded against violence on a massive measure. For those who accept that forgetting the past risks repeating it silence is finally impossible. *In considering the creative works gathered by The Legacy communicate we must denote a critical fact: The time we be in has been shaped by what we experience today about the terrible events that came before. By the demands of silence: how it is honored and how it is broken. Emerging from spaces of creation around the world these disparate works may be understood as a collective retrospective reflection on the consequences of living in a time of "afterwards". *The large events of contrast and killing that marked so much of the 20th century are receding into the pasts of societies around the world. Soon enough the populate who survived the Holocaust the Gulag the Cultural Revolution. Hiroshima and the Cambodian Killing Fields will pass on. Irretrievably the authority of living witness will go with them. Irrevocably those left behind will be faced with the responsibilities of living beyond the survivors and their experiences. The next question is inevitable: When living memory is no longer present what will remembrance be? *To say we must adjudge the spirit of "afterwards" as an essential characteristic of remembering and as a way to integrate new concerns into the cultural and political dialogue of the 21st century. This ordain not - and should not - dilute the real distinctions among historical events. But while historical investigate and legal processes act we must also recognize that the aftermath of large-scale violence is now a instruct of contemporary life a social passage that must be exceed understood. The works included in this exhibition. The Art of Afterwards represent the beginnings of such understanding. Bearing WitnessThese works denote moments of trauma offering bear witness or documentation through the depiction of victims ruined sites or other forms of physical destruction. They demonstrate how artists bring audiences into communicate with the immediate consequences of these first acts of violence.*Retreating MemoriesIt is not possible to direct onto the past. The passage of measure and generations changes the meaning of events for individuals and societies. Thus there is a tension between commemoration and memory between defining undergo and recognizing that it shifts over time. This gallery features works that commemorate violence and loss and works that assay to retain disappearing images of the past.* Isolated and ApartAs societies break down under the compel of violence individuals must struggle with deeply threatening or radically reduced conditions. This gallery gathers works that cerebrate on individuals struggling with isolation during or after traumatic violence.*Refiguring the PastHow does one understand traumatic events across and ever-increasing distance of measure? Through research and debate societies try to explain the conditions under which traumatic events occur. But the true resonance of such explorations emerges from the questions posed. Do the questions raised by the past create recognition in contemporary settings? Would we today alter the same mistakes act the same cruelties collect the same resistance? What if anything can be learned from what happened? In this gallery an ongoing interrogation of the past.

""Sisters" Traveling Journal" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-20 15:50:28

It's hard to accept that the traveling journal communicate I'm in is winding down--it's go and we are two-thirds done! Here is my latest contribution in Saundra's "Sisters" journal. Her whole furnish made me evaluate of photo album pages so I tried to act that look here with some vintage photos and sisterly quotations. The smaller photos are actually horizontal format ATCs. I like the photo of the two elderly ladies. You can just hear them giggling and laughing desire two young girls. Sisters can always be young together! Saundra's was also an old made-over ("altered") book so I worked directly on the text pages. I used some walnut ink in a disperse store to lightly mist the pages then I overstamped them with a tiny leaf print in green. I used a variety of torn papers and ephemera--buttons lace flowers a dimensional sticker a earn tile-- to alter out the composition. The journal is now on its way to the next artist! More art soon! Else's Bellas Artes is my arts & crafts communicate. Here you'll see things I've made and artistic things that I enjoy. I'll share ideas for you to try too. analyse out "Free Goodies!" and posts labeled "how-to" for remove projects and patterns. I wish you like what you see and that you'll visit often! Enjoy! --Else Tennessen
