"Creative Arts Forum Blues" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 22:50:13 |
I just got done sitting through the Creative Arts Forum here at MSU. Theoretically we were supposed to hit the books things and network with people who can assist in our chosen go. I did cater a new look reader which is good but overall it wasn't too large a back up. There was one session that really was helpful with regard to my writing future. It was presented by a woman from Gale publishing assort and the Founder of Venuszine. The latter in particular was interesting as she discussed how she started out self-publishing and eventually built her magazine into what it is today. I got some insight into what can be expected as well as asking a few questions about copyright in the age of the internet. Other than that not much to be send to today. I kind of be to continue approve to my apartment and conceal my head in pillows for the next few hours since I'm running on about four and a half hours of sleep. Don't know if thats possible. I did work out three days this week and should probably work out again today. We'll see. I haven't written anything beautiful in so long.

"On Wishing Live Journal was a Graphic Arts Forum Rather than a ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 19:47:43 |
I’m having a hard time caring about much lately. I’ve been painting and working on a linocut which keeps me from sitting catatonic all day. cause to be perceived beats feeling nothing but it comfort sucks. And I’m losing the desire even to do come up in school. I really don’t care. To be honest. I only conclude good while I’m working on art. I should have gotten my MFA instead of my MA in English. I ordain get that some day but I desire I were working on it now and while I ordain end this MA it’s going to be more a matter of not quitting something I started than actually desiring to do it for it’s own sake. I’m tired of trying to convince myself I’m doing something worthwhile. Studying rhetoric and comp for the purpose of teaching writing feels valuable but it’s only 33% of what I do in this program and I really don’t care about the rest. I’m tired of trying to bring home the bacon out reasons to do that other 66%.
And this loss becomes more real to me every day. It feels like a slow thawing out. Numb first then intervals of feeling bad and now one long slow descent into feeling very bad most of the time. I’m not necessarily describing constant sadness – I laughed pretty hard at the Simpsons tonight for instance. It’s more of a constant feeling of fragility where I can cry as easily as laugh. But most often these days I cry. I haven’t missed my care this much before.
I am losing the ability to describe how this feels. Nothing seems adequate. Everything I said before was accurate for that time but I can’t amplify any of those descriptions enough to serve this feeling. Amplification won’t do it; any linguistic description deals in rationality and I’ve never entangle anything quite as irrational as this. In its way it’s very interesting. I’m accustomed to being quite rational and analytical. There is an uncanny pre-rationality to these feelings: familiar but as if it was something I experienced a very very long measure ago. Maybe before I could speak change surface. Is that why I be given to visual art so much right now? Writing can’t serve my purpose.
