"Breakfast on the Coast" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-19 00:12:18

Today our "eat with the deans" went on the road. We met with about nine or ten Gulf glide faculty members to enjoy a (hot!) meal and some challenging and energizing conversation. We talked openly and frankly about how our college handles all manner of administrative issues relating to our Coast programs and faculty. We talked about how we should decide what comes next for our Coast programs and agreed to some basic guidelines about what issues should drive these discussions as we act forward. It's great to see so much potential and so much commitment to serving student needs no be what it takes. We talked about how many other universities struggle with issues relating to remote campus organization; I personally take alleviate knowing that there is no acknowledged "alter" way to create all of this. I cannot create by mental act a better location for these discussions. The University of Southern Mississippi | 118 College Drive. Hattiesburg. This paper addresses the relationship between values and institutions in wet management in small-scale communities through a comparative case analysis of two farming groups in Northern Italy. The theoretical framework for this research is provided by combining the IAD Framework with classical European conceptions of values. According to Weber’s sociological tradition and Boudon’s modern analysis social actors follow principles founded upon reasons that they hold tighten. This is the case for collective beliefs and social norms whose content is the object of voluntary adherence by individuals. In accordance with this theoretical framework. I declare a research hypothesis using an adaptation of the “Coleman Boat” model which combines two levels of analysis: the system of actions produced by individual actors and the resulting macro phenomenon. This allows me to link the existence of values and shared norms to the construction of institutional wet management. The hypothesis has been tested by in-depth interviews in two farming communities that overlap the same institutions and physical attributes but show different performance in terms of sustainable wet management. Finally the paper reports initial results from a field tour to the first of the two communities which underlines the importance of common understanding of shared values.
