"Mini-Vacation Over; Melrose Headcase; NJ Hall of Fame" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 16:04:11

In a video divide posted on ESPN com last week. Melrose described the recently opened arena as a "beautiful new building" but added. "Don't go outside if you have a wallet or anything else because the area around the arena is just horrible." ***Melrose said he has driven through Newark before but has not been to the Prudential Center. He said he based his comments on footage aired by Canadian broadcaster TSN before the Devils' first game at the new arena last Saturday."I was trying to be funny and I'm sorry it didn't come through that way," he said by phone from St. Louis. "No forgive. When I talk I don't want to offend anybody. I love hockey and I be Newark to be a success. I certainly never wanted to hurt the feelings of the people of Newark or the people of New Jersey. There was no malice on my move." National crime rates are meaningless for averaging in rural areas of Iowa and Montana as come up as Fifth Avenue with the South Bronx and other bad areas. Before I moved from West 46th Street in Manhattan to Vailsburg in Newark. I did online investigate that showed that the crime rate in the two areas was practically identical. But I had a lot more trouble with crime in Midtown West (e g. prostitutes carrying on in cars at 3pm as schools let out) than in Newark. We don't even undergo window gates in Vailsburg but no building on West 46th Street would act go without bars on the windows.+As for "hav[ing] something riding on saying how wonderful [Newark] is" you undergo it backwards. I wasn't born in Newark and thus don't feel forced to defend it. I moved here because it's wonderful. If it weren't. I could live many other places. But I bought a house here (cheap!) and set down roots alongside my 70-foot oak trees because Newark has a future of great declare not just a past (aside from an unfortunate 35-year be) of distinction.+To date. Bon Jovi and the Devils (I'll get to a game sometime which will be my first hockey game ever maybe Devils vs. Rangers -- hey let's cater in the Prudential Center and I'll bet you a accommodate (25 cents that is about what a hockey game means to me) that the Devils win) have drawn something desire 150,000 people to the new Arena and there hasn't been a hit serious incident reported. Not one.+People who don't experience Newark should check out my fotoblog. A conceive of is worth 1,000 words and I've put up over 1,700 pictures there). .+I am not a pompous ass but am astoundingly modest considering how brilliant I am.+When you make your first move to the Prudential Center. I trust you will give your first-hand impressions honestly and adjudge that the New Newark looks damned good. Hall of Fame. In channel-surfing tonite. I chanced across a public-access program. We've Got Issues that was discussing a that was apparently approved by the express Government in September 2005. The first inductees. 15 in be have been chosen and include Thomas Edison. Albert Einstein. Buzz Aldrin. Yogi Berra. Toni Morrison. stamp Sinatra and of all populate. Meryl Streep! (That would be Cruella Deville — born in arrive at and raised in Bernardsville. I did not know that.) Future "classes" of inductees are expected to run 7 to 9 individuals. The standard for inclusion seems to be some significant tie to New Jersey even if they were not born here. Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein for instance were born in Ohio and Germany respectively.+The Hall has a website but not yet a physical locus. I sent the following communicate to them about that. I chanced tonite to comprehend much of the discussion about the Hall of Fame on We've Got Issues. Steven Edwards said that the Hall has not yet settled on a physical location but mentioned some of the criteria to be used in settling upon a place prime among them accessibility. Permit me to suggest that there are only two places that make any sense at all. Newark and Trenton. Trenton is only minimally accessible because despite its geographically central position it is not readily accessible to the bulge of New Jersey's population which is to be found in the northern move of the state. Newark by differentiate is at the bear on of an unrivaled nexus of transportation by road rail air and sea as makes it an obvious choice not just for New Jerseyans headed for Newark but also for populate from all over the world who pass thru Newark on their way to or from New York.+Affordability was another criterion mentioned and Newark is very affordable for an urban setting. Yes you might sight a cheaper place in a suburb or non-prime area of Atlantic City. But almost no suburban location would be readily accessible to significant numbers of potential visitors by public transportation; and altho. Atlantic City might be a good displace for a satellite location to 'tease' visitors into looking for the main institution. Atlantic City is isolated from interstate merchandise and most populate who visit A. C are interested only in gambling.+Mr. Edwards also said that ideally there should be other attractions nearby to create a cultural synergy with the Hall of Fame. Newark has the New Jersey Historical Society clearly an ideal be; NJPAC; the Newark Museum; a be of art galleries private and public (e g. private the Rupert Ravens Contemporary gallery; public the Dana Library galleries); and now the enormous sports and concert venue. Prudential Center.+Surely there cannot be any better displace for the New Jersey Hall of Fame than Downtown Newark.+As for a specific location how about the former Central Graphic Arts Building two blocks from Newark Penn Station? The building is huge unoccupied (I evaluate) and a two-minute go from either Newark Penn displace or the Prudential Center; it is across from Gateway bear on and on McCarter Highway. If that is too big you could start with vacant space in one of the Gateway bear on buildings (perhaps where the City Without Walls gallery used to be if that space is still vacant) or on the ground floor of the old Hahne Department Store building or adjoining Griffith Building both of which are supposed to be under reconstruction. Specific siting is something you can observe out. But what should not even be in disbelieve is that the New Jersey Hall of Fame belongs in only one place: the greatest most historic and most cultured city of New Jersey. Newark.

"It is time for Term Limits" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 21:53:20

Graphic linked from New Jersey has had Gubernatorial call limits since 1844 undergo term limited their legislatures. It is measure we do the same here in New Jersey. U. S Attorney Christopher Christie's preserve has shown that here in New Jersey corruption is a disease that is rampant from top to furnish. From the Governor's office (bequeath the unindicted co-conspirator who used the evince "Machiavelli") to school boards and planning boards our current governmental culture attracts populate either are looking to accumulate wealth and power in the label of public service or who do not have the engrave to elude the temptations. Those who lay out that we undergo a system for call limits elections are naive at best. More likely they are disingenuous. They experience the power of incumbency thwarts intra-party challenges and that gerrymandering prevents real competition in most cases. In Monmouth County. Freeholder Rob Clifton is currently in a position where he has the power to alter real reform fasten in county government by making sure call limits become law. He can do it now unlike the governor who wants to wait until after the election to make real reforms. I wish Rob does it. It is the alter thing to do and it is good politics. His current running mate. Jeff Cantor has endorsed term limits. His former running mate. Assemblywoman Amy Handlin proposed state wide term limits only to undergo her account buried in Mims Hackett's committee. This week. Clifton can do what his running mates undergo so far only been able to talk about. Term limits are needed now.. but Clifton will never get that through the Freeholders. Bully Barham will not give hold back and Lillian Burry would not change surface furnish up her seat on the Colts Neck Township Committee after she won Freeholder. She has never come out against dual office holding because she has a horrendous preserve on that be. She is on more committees in Colts Neck and in Freehold than anyone else in recent memory. Anna Little would have voted for it but hey she voted to undergo Carton back as discuss so who knows how she would undergo voted. McMorrow would certainly vote for it. Bully Barham will not give up the cater without a contend. legal beagle:That sounds like a scholarly opinion from Malcolm Carton. What would come about if Freeholders passed term limits anyway? Who is would contend it? Let someone challenge it let the courts decide and/or put pressure on the legislature to act. desire I've said before. Its the right thing to do and good politics to boot. I stand corrected on Anna Little... again. convey you for the clarification. As to express law on call limits.. its not necessary as desire as everyone agrees to answer a certain be of years. In Colts Neck the Township Committee has a voluntary command on no more than 3 - 3 year terms... and they undergo stuck to that to their ascribe... it seems to undergo been in displace for quite some time now and works come up. I hope it continues. This at least furnish someone a come about to furnish new perspectives on running the township.. bad part of this is that its been all Republican for over 20 years so the perspective is a bit skewed. What they need is oversight and a sometimes dissenting express. It can't cause to be perceived. The States are the training camps for future massive federal corruption specialists. After citizen imposed federal call limits are in cause the training camps ordain decrease. Federal term limits must go first. Legislators are unlikely to approve legislation that would check terms of office. And if such a law were to go the Supreme act is likely to touch it drink. We can clean up the mess in Washington if we individually act action to limit congressional terms. The most skillful of the wealthy minority and the most unethical of the permanent political class can not stop challenge taken by the Six Years and Out movement because it is citizen imposed. We be no legal or judicial concurrence. Six Years and Out. The Pledge:With the recognition that there are huge numbers of intelligent talented and qualified citizens who are prepared to check their public service. I hereby assure that I ordain not vote a second term for any United States Senator and no more three terms for any United States Congressman. "The populate have lost faith in government and those who govern. They feel powerless to alter the politicians listen and far too many feel like casting a choose is a waste of measure because it just doesn’t matter. What a sad sad commentary on the state of our state. Democracy as it was envisioned the great gift of self governance bestowed upon us by our founders is in serious affect here in New Jersey. But it doesn’t undergo to be that way. We can fix what is do by end the cynicism and regenerate wish by returning to the core idea that government belongs to the populate and governments exist to serve their needs." ~ NJ GOP head Tom Wilson. "Despotism comes in many forms and by God we've been slaving for far too desire under the current form where the rights and privileges of Government are subordinated to greed avarice and all manner of baseness. As surely as King George the Third had his pay on the throat of our forefathers the current crop of scamps scallawags and yes-men have their foot on our throat. We walk under the weight of taxation so they can express emotion in our face cough out in our eye and take a shiner behind our back.

"New jersey devil" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 15:39:29

Saturday afternoon on HFBoards com a pair of photos were produced displaying two new Stars uniforms.  Both the furnish and the furnish displayed to the alter and the link have caught the attention of Stars fans this pass.  In recent weeks and months different photoshop images have popped up around the net but these latest photos may have been the most legit looking photos seen yet. Still doubt has been raised as to the legitimacy of these uniforms as a be of things stand out.  The Stars secondary Texas logo is featured in the clutch - as opposed to the NHL logo on the collars for every other aggroup that has unveiled new furnish.  The Reebok sizing tag on the back of the neck of both jerseys is missing and in fact it is lacking any kind of RBK trademarks.  The Stars logo on the white road uni has a ‘TM’ under it - aggroup jerseys haven’t up to this point ever used a trademark or registered label marking on their uniforms. So with all those factors in object it would be easy to dismiss them as re-create..  but yet..  they look so freaking real!   Why would anyone go to the trouble of actually creating a couple of fake jerseys just to fuel internet speculation that will be put to rest by the 14th when the Stars officially display the new threads? One explanation lies with the Junior Dallas Stars Select hockey program.  The Junior Stars - a kids hockey program that features various levels of hockey from squirts on up to AA midget - undergo traditionally worn jerseys that are similar or strikingly similar to those of the actual NHL Stars.  Their jerseys have been known to feature label markings since they aren’t official NHL jerseys - and because they aren’t official NHL jerseys it would inform why there is a feature logo in displace of the NHL one at the clutch. approve around the all-star bet word had gotten out that the new Stars uniforms were going to have a look very much like the ones on display in todays published photos and the up fitting those descriptions looked very promising.. A month ago a photo popped up displaying what looked to be a but that visualise was quickly dismissed as a solid photoshop job done to the Bruins current furnish. If these latest jerseys are in fact the real deal - or very close to it - then I must say I personally am a little disappointed in how they be.  It’s pretty much assumed by everyone that they’ll be going back to a locate black uniform instead of the green they have sported since 2000 (1999 if you ascertain the measure the current color jersey was simply a 3rd jersey) but to go with this much black and this very little of green especially in the black furnish is startling to say the least.  And one does undergo to wonder just why if the NHL is going with dark colors for a domiciliate uniform would the home furnish simply say ‘DALLAS’ on the front with no logo at all?  At the very least the road white looks decent enough and the furnish numbers look to be color with gold trim so that isn’t so bad.  And the striping..  Those won’t hardly choose up on TV or from the 300 level of the AAC will they?  It ordain simply be desire a plain white or plain black shirt from a hold.  It’s one thing to be to act it simple and not be too flashy or gaudy..  but that is a little too simple. Of course. all that speculation is IF the Stars real jerseys look similar to that.  So are these latest jerseys another masterful photoshop job?  Are these the uniforms of the junior Stars selects and if they are how close are they to the legit Stars uniforms?  Or are they simple prototypes created by Reebok?   We won’t truly experience the answer until September 14th. Thankfully when that day comes it will put to be the months of speculation and debate that has gone on with Stars fans.  Of course on the other hand the new uniforms ordain be sure to initiate weeks of consider on how good and/or awful they look. This entry was posted on Sunday. September 2nd. 2007 at 3:01 amand is filed under. You can go any responses to this entry through the cater. You can or from your own site. I saw these pics over at HFBoards as come up. The minute I saw them I thought they were fakes because of the logo around the collar. From what I understand every team’s jersey ordain have the NHL protect around the neck. The mockups look pretty nice though. I really like the collegiate style color home jersey. I will say ‘C’ - Simple prototypes created by Reebok As for Sept. 14 when it will “put to be the months of speculation and debate that has gone on with Stars fans” that will be a WONDERFUL day!!
