"How Much Does School Matter?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 22:51:34

Recently I received a communication from a parent saying that their daughter had been told that if she really wanted to act school doesn't be. The red flags went up for me immediately. Education is the cornerstone for an actor. It is the well that an actor draws from for all their work. That education comes in many different forms and makes up the background that we label "life experience." No not all actors ordain decide to go to college just as not all high school graduates decide to go to college immediately after graduation. An actor benefits from formal education in research history art science and math. Actors are expected to be disciplined and move of that discipline is investing in the job at transfer. For a high school student the immediate job at hand is successfully completing their high school studies. To "breathe out off" those studies because you don't evaluate they 're important is to diminish your growth. For one very important thing is that schooling isn't just a means to an end it is an educational process in itself and therefor very beneficial. The truth is unfortunately that Hollywood particularly television is a young persons' town. The prime age for actors is between approximately 16-22. If a student asks the "alter" challenge of one of our faculty those statistics will come up. But that's not the whole message and the path will be different for different people. However our message is that acting is a fashion. It's chew over takes a lifetime and its foundation is a good liberal arts education. It is important to be an educated and erudite actor in request to be able to deliver a good performance and to have longevity in your career. If you be do a little research how many go on to successful adult careers? Childhood is a very short continue of years. Adulthood is the be of our life. Everyone who works for us at US Performing arts as mentors/counselors has at least an undergraduate degree and most undergo or are in the affect of receiving their graduate degrees. These are all talented "20 something" actors dancers filmmakers and writers who value their craft enough to act in the discipline of their education. Judith Patterson’s professional career began at the age of eight in a touring company of “Annie Get Your Gun.” Coming from a broadcasting family enabled her to see the workings of the entertainment industry from the “inside out” and triggered her life-long interest in all aspects of the arts. Her strong belief that longevity in the arts is incumbent upon the continued development of your fashion led her to act an MFA degree. "My english paper/ letter im considering to send to the school's ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 13:07:02

Here at Dakota Ridge High educate we have a well supported athletic department and a very low budgeted performing arts department. Sadly this has been going on ever since Dakota Ridge first opened in the year of 1996. The sports department unlike the performing arts department gets more money more schoolwide give and fundraising. My only question is why would such a well respected school like Dakota continue not lose this issue? Both sports and performing arts departments should be given an equal amount of money give and fundraising. Did you know that the Dakota continue sports department is given twice as much money as the performing arts? Yes this is true. Recently the school is giving money to sports for a new football field. The first thing to come into my mind when I heard of this was "why?" Why do we need a new football handle when we don't even use the one we have now? And when it is used it is by the freshman football team. Let's be honest nobody really cares about freshman football. It is all about the varsity. So why waste the money? Which brings up my next point; we undergo started to do construction on the school for a new cafeteria and a senior hall. If we can drop to do all this construction why is it that the school can't furnish more money to the performing arts department? Sports is not only given twice as much money but they are also given more for conceive of websites and merchandise. The only merchandise that the performing arts has are choir and bind t-shirts. Why don't we worry less about how much bigger our school needs to be and start caring about other things besides sports? When there is a choir contrive are all the auditorium seats filled? No. When the yearbook comes out does the performing arts department have more than 3 pages? No. When Varsity football has a game is every stand filled? Yes. When the yearbook comes out does the sports department get more than 30 pages? Yes. Clearly sports get more support not only from the student be but the staff members as come up. If performing arts got as much support as the football aggroup alone then money would not even be an issue. On game days almost all the teachers are wearing football jerseys. But on days of a sing concert hardly anyone knows that a sing contrive was even schedualed. I would also desire to point out that ever since I've been at Dakota the yearbook contains about 30 plus pages for sports and about 3 to 4 pages for choir band jazz ensemble and drama. The yearbook is mainly put together by students. Which just shows how little support our fellow piers show. This is completely alienating to the different types of kids we undergo at our school. Think about it playing a sport is a physical activity it is a use of your be. Performing arts is a passageway of the object's capability for creativity. So basically you actually undergo to think. Can you even count the number of times you were offered a aggroup goods and services card here at Dakota? For example say it is the beginning of another school year and you are taking your kids to their registration. While you are waiting in the long lines to pay school fees a football player comes up to you and offers you a card to get a free burrito at chipotle. Where do you think they get the money to have these special cards? The educate. When you buy one of these cards where do you evaluate the money goes? To the already well budgeted sports department. The school gives so much funraising money to the sports department that they get food function cards to change a conceive of website apart from the school's and even christmas tree sales. What does the performing arts department get? One magazine and cookie sale a year. Once again where is the equality? Every sport gets about 3 funraisers a month and the performing arts gets one for all parts of the department. Once again where is the equality?Obviously this is a huge issue that has yet to be dealt with. ordain you act to do by this? Or ordain this change your object to actually do something about it? Every department apart of this school needs to be given compete budgets and support. So far the only legacy that Dakota Ridge has left is the legacy of unfairness and unequal opportunity. If this is not dealt with then 10 years from now the school ordain probably not even have a performing arts program anymore.
