"Audio Technica AT804 - The Digital Video Information Network" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-23 12:21:24

I have one and the sound quality is very good. Handling noise is also low. The other characteristics I'll list can be either good or bad depending on your situation. For example it's very short and compact if you need a small mic but for person-on-the-street interviews it doesn't have a lot of physical reach because the handle is so short. It has a higher output than most dynamic mics so that may make it sound less isolated in a noisy environment but if you need more output for a quiet subject it's clean and clear for a dynamic. The cosmetics look very 1970's. If you're shooting something that's set in the 70's you're good to go otherwise if it's on-camera it doesn't look up to date. Which is a minor point since it does sound good but it's something to consider. The price has always been good compared to EV. Sennheiser. Beyerdynamic and Shure equivalents. Lastly on my one example it would not latch with the Lectrosonics plug-on transmitters. I couldn't figure out why. XLR cables latch just fine. Latching is important to noise-free transmission since the mic body becomes part of the antenna when connected to a plug-on transmitter. This may be isolated to just my one mic. I've never tried it on a Sennheiser plug-on or an Audio-Technica plug-on. It may be of interest that the AT804 has been discontinued (though apparently still available from some suppliers):The replacement seems to be the AT8004:The AT8004 also comes in a long-handled version the AT8004L:

Digital Rights Management. Let’s face it. DRM sucks. It’s anti-consumer it’s annoying since it prevents beat use of content and it makes us all conclude desire we’re slaves to the corporate consumption machine. DRM could be spun in the opposite direction however and be made to work for us. How? Let’s put “DRM” on our ascribe cards on our private information that we share with businesses. Let’s put DRM on “identity” so we can revoke companies’ access to our information if/when they do by it. It’s our data it’s our vitals. Why not take hold back over it by utilization the same revocation schemes used by the entertainment industry. DRM is the computer equivalent of Democrat’s “Fairness Doctrine”. Exactly whose rights are being managed here? Let’s bring these technologies to populate who can actually use them in a sensible make. The only problem comes when someone decides to “DeCSS” your credit lines. At least we’ll all undergo a vested arouse in making sure the technology that protects us is doing a good job. Technocracy original style. What they prescribed turned out to be what they described. Where technology abundance prevails and economies of abundance too. DRM is the dinosaur crying in its death throes - how can digital media undergo intrinsic value in the midst of its abundance? Man that was one of the best points I have ever seen made. I agree we should DRM all of our information so that companies can’t use it if we think they are abusing it. DRM is all about money and power not about protecting the interests of the author. Excellent! OpenID 2.0 ordain help the common user mouth to understand the ways in which we be to evaluate in order to sufficiently hold back our identity. In the future we ordain have a competition between non-profit organizations funded by credit companies and identity consumers to provide the best data warehousing and abstraction layer support for integration with a system like OpenID. I like the temporary separate numbers issued by endorse but we need to be able to generate those and manage them ourselves through another authority that provides additional protections that don’t fit with a company desire Visa’s business copy. <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong> This is what the bloggers at Toshiba are saying about technology and innovations. "Ars Technica?s mole predicts a 400 dollar PS3 this Christmas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 13:16:02

The rumor goes something desire this: Ars Technica (which is actually a pretty great site that I try to read as much as I’m able) has a rumor mole of sorts that predicted both the and the in the retail box of move back and forth bind for the 360. Both of these proved to be true but I would also argue that they adjoin on the ridiculously obvious. Microsoft was on preserve saying that if consumers demanded an HDMI solution for the 360 they would provide it and seeing as how it was becoming a bullet point for the competition ad nauseum to lord over the 360 adding it was sort of a no brainer. As for the wireless issue with move back and forth Band we’ve known since launch that Microsoft’s licensing agreement is incredibly strict in regards to third party controllers especially with their proprietary wireless standard. The PS3 and Wii on the other hand use Bluetooth which is an open standard (although that’s about the nicest thing I can say about it). The 40 GB PS3 though is sort of out of nowhere for a few reasons. First there are several things making the PS3 expensive and the hard drive certainly isn’t one of them. As populate who complain about the 360 hard drive state repeatedly there’s no reason for it to cost that much going off of standard hardware margins for hard drives. Since the PS3 can use standard off the shelf hard drives it doesn’t demand the most expensive hard drives on the merchandise. And in inspect we all forgot. Sony is eating considerable losses on the PS3 already. Slimming the drive drink isn’t going to shave a hundred off the be of manufacture and Sony can’t afford another price cut this soon (as evidenced by the reintroduction of a 600 dollar copy in August). Sony has demonstrated a continued unwillingness to truly support two console SKUs as most who tried to find a 20 GB PS3 at retail can tell you. The idea that they’ll acquaint a cheaper less feature rich version (change surface with their flagship Blu-ray title) is answer to every move Sony has made this generation and also in enjoin contradiction of their current financial situation. Sony is a company in turmoil and the heads are more interested in how the system is helping their Blu-ray installed base than how come up it’s faring against the 360. The 500 dollar 80 GB copy though. I can definitely see happening. Especially when PS3 sales change magnitude in August amidst a 360 surge. Christmas might be pushing it but Michael Pachter may have something when he posits that by next April we’ll see the 500 dollar PS3 again. And a 99.99 PS2 is a no brainer as come up as all of the next-gen consoles that consumers ordain be able to find this holiday are still too expensive for the majority of the mainstream.
