Second Life obviously can be a very construction-heavy experience. In fact one could argue that by default building things is the only real game element in that world. Having enjoyed Hemlock’s recent commentary on elements of the 2L landscape. I know that there’s a lot of stuff involved in making a lay in Second Life. Just not my cup of tea though. Spore is another title that this recalls to me based on at SXSW this year. He likened the call Spore to toys and called his philosophy one more of toy-making than game-making. He wants to give users the ability to alter their own fun instead of forcing ‘the one adjust way’ onto people. This is something that resonated with me very heavily; I undergo a feeling if Spore is ever released it’s going to go over really big with folks. Saturday and life is happening. Inside life is sometimes a little Wuthering Heights-ish but on the surface it is as lovely and heartwarming as ever. Life can get me down but it can’t act my heirloom tomatoes away from me. Does that make sense? Mmm it makes sense. I went to the Farmer’s Market with one crispy ten-dollar account and came back with this (plus a brownie which I ate as I strolled from stall to stall). The eggplant and pass squash are going to go into another go of ratatouille tomorrow and the tomato–come up really darlings. One just slices and I also found it necessary to bake something so I made my go-to recipe for impressing the taste buds. (move that link for the recipe!). Something for the weekend indeed. I obviously don’t need to photograph every step when she’s done it for me… But I couldn’t resist just one mouth of the crumbly flour-and-fat mixture beat of dried fruit. I have always used dried cherries rather than glaces (Americans undergo an inbred aversion to glace cherries and we didn’t get it from the Brits so I don’t experience from whom) and this afternoon was forced to alter dried apricots for the sultanas. My rotten luck that I was also out of brown sugar… oh well that’s what god made molasses for. You see. I am missing my clunker gas oven that always got these a heavenly golden-brown. They taste nice though.
